• A minimum of three years of experience in bankruptcy law, with a focus on consumer Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases
• Demonstrated, hands-on experience preparing bankruptcy petitions and schedules from scratch
• Experience drafting Chapter 13 Plans and familiarity with Chapter 13 Trustee requirements and guidelines
• Working knowledge of federal bankruptcy court procedures, local rules, and ECF filing
• Experience drafting post-confirmation motions such as motions to modify plans, motions to incur new debt, and similar consumer motions
• Ability to independently calendar and manage deadlines across an active caseload
• Proficiency with bankruptcy petition and case management software
• Demonstrated proficiency in all forms of communication, including direct client communication
• Demonstrated pride in working enthusiastically and completing assignments timely
• Conduct or assist with client intake and gather all financial documentation
• Prepare complete, accurate petition packages including all schedules, Statement of Financial Affairs and all required declarations and certifications
• Identify exemption issues and flag potential concerns to the supervising attorney
• Communicate case status to clients and guide them through the process from filing to discharge
• Draft Chapter 13 Plans, including calculation of plan payment, priority claims, disposable income, and liquidation value
• Calendar and track all case deadlines from filing through case closing
• Monitor the claims register and flag improper, duplicate, or inflated claims for attorney review
• Handle post-filing compliance requirements and correspondence with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Trustees’ offices
• Draft motions including motions to extend time, motions to modify plan, motions to incur new debt, and similar consumer motions
• Prepare and track proposed orders consistent with Court procedures
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the full lifecycle of their case
• Proactively update clients on case status, upcoming hearings, payment requirements, and next steps
• Manage client relationships and regularly consult with clients and third parties to effectively move cases toward a successful conclusion
• Meet court and firm deadlines consistently
• Be a team player with the intention of building a long-term career
The compensation package is commensurate with qualifications and experience and will include a base salary in the range of $65,000–$80,000. The compensation package includes a base salary, plus bonus compensation based on production, efficiency, and performance. We offer a generous benefits package, including health, vision and dental insurance, 401k and paid time off.
